How Do I Add Favorite Courses to My SkyCaddie Handheld?

Adding your favorite golf courses to your SkyCaddie handheld is simple and can be done directly via Wi-Fi or through your SkyGolf account.

 

Add Courses via Wi-Fi on Your Device:

  1. From the main menu, tap PLAY GOLF. 
  2. Choose from Nearby Courses, Favorites, or use the Search function. 
  3. Once the course is selected, press the UPDATE button. 
  4. The course will download and appear in your Favorites with a Wi-Fi icon, indicating it was updated online.

 

Add Courses via SkyGolf.com:

  1. Log in to your account at SkyGolf.com. 
  2. Click COURSES in the top menu and search for your desired course. 
  3. Select your course(s), then choose Download via Wi-Fi above the course list. 
  4. Sync your handheld device to complete the update.

 

Managing Your Favorite Courses:

On the SkyCaddie PRO 5X, you’ll notice two types of favorite courses: 

  • Heart icon: Courses downloaded from SkyGolf.com 
  • Wi-Fi icon: Courses updated directly through your device

 

Note: Removing a course from the website will delete it from your device on the next sync.

 

Courses added via Wi-Fi do not count toward your 50-course limit and don’t need to be removed—they take up minimal space.

Charging the Pro 5X in Power OFF mode (faster charge)

Charging in OFF mode: 

1)Turn Off Pro 5X

2) Connect USB charging cable to Pro 5X and plug into outlet

3) Screen will show battery charging indicator (5 secs)

  4. Select Set Up Wi-Fi.

Can't Get My SuperTag to Calibrate?

Here’s What to Do.

 

If your SuperTag won’t calibrate or connect, don’t worry—there are several things you can try. This guide walks you through troubleshooting steps to get your tag up and running.

 

Start with the Basics

  • Restart your SkyCaddie or mobile device 
  • Try again after restarting 
  • Move away from other SuperTags or Bluetooth devices 
  • Improve lighting conditions and move the club closer to the device 
  • Try again

 

SkyCaddie Mobile App Users Only

If you're using SkyCaddie Mobile only (no hardware device), calibrate through the app to update your tags: 

  1. Open the app and go to Menu > Activate a Product 
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is ON and connected 
  3. If issues continue: 
  • Reinstall the SkyCaddie Mobile app 
  • Try again

 

Advanced Troubleshooting Tips

Grip & Tag Check

  • Inspect for a bad or worn grip 
  • Ensure the tag is screwed in completely and sits flush around the entire base 
  • Watch for non-flat or angled grips (especially pistol-style) 
  • Confirm the grip base is perpendicular to the shaft 
  • Not sure? Send us photos of the club grip and tag from multiple angles

 

Phone/Device Check

  • Remove phone cases or wallet attachments that prevent flat contact 
  • Make sure the device lies flat on the clubface 
  • Use the rubber O-ring (especially for Woods and Drivers) 
  • It’s okay if the phone hangs off the edge a bit—just keep it steady and avoid the shaft hosel

 

Swap Tags to Isolate the Issue

  • Swap a tag from a working club with one that’s not calibrating 
  • If the issue follows the tag, it may need replacement 

When Calibration Won’t Start (Tag Not Seen)

Check Lighting

  • Bright light isn’t required, but holding the tag near a light source can “wake” it up for calibration.

 

Use the Nearby Tags Tool (SkyCaddie/Android Only)

Go to Menu > Settings > Nearby Tags to see all nearby SuperTags:

 

You’ll see: 

  • Tag ID (e.g., SuperTag-462) 
  • Signal strength (e.g., -65 is strong, -90 is weak) 
  • Tag owner status (“Assigned to you” or “Unassigned”) 
  • Club name if already calibrated 
  • Movement status (if the tag is actively moving)

 

💡 Gently rock the club with the tag to trigger movement.

➡️ If the tag appears, take a screenshot or record the signal strength.

 

If no tags show up at all, it's unlikely the tag is faulty. But if only one tag doesn’t appear, that tag may need replacing.

 

Bluetooth Permissions Check

iOS:

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth and make sure it’s ON 
  • Go to Settings > SkyCaddie Mobile > Bluetooth and ensure it’s enabled

 

Android:

  1. Swipe down and turn Bluetooth ON 
  2. Go to Settings > Apps > SkyCaddie Mobile > Permissions 
  • Set to “Allow all the time” 
  • Turn precise location ON

 

SkyCaddie Devices:

  • Bluetooth is always enabled—no action needed

    I have not used it yet other than the demos but the setup was relatively easy I love the screen the brightness the control buttons I also got the cart mount downloaded a bunch of courses so far so good so I'm giving it five stars true test of course will be when I take it on the course this weekend

    The Best Course Info!

    I’ve been using SkyCaddie Products for over 10 years. The system works and gives me all the information I need to make the correct club choice and helps when I hat a bad shot and need to recover to save doubles.

    Great device! Maps Take Months to Update

    I've owned the PRO 5X for 8 months and waited to write this review. When the maps are updated, I honestly believe this is the best GPS on the market! Distances to the flag are within a yard compared to trusted rangefinders; more impressively, distances to clear hazards are more accurate than other GPS units on the market.

    Now the bad--if courses are redesigned, my experience is that it can take 3 months or longer to get an update. Maps from free GPS companies are often updated well before the SkyCaddie. Customer Service is also non-responsive given the premium we pay for the device (not to mention this requires a membership). For example, I've reached out 4 times over the last month and have not heard back. Lastly, the SkyGolf 360 app that lets you sync this unit to your phone is extremely bad. As of the time of this review, it is rated 2.4 stars from 180 users.

    For the price, I recommend using a free GPS app and buying the rangefinder of your choice. Even if you choose the top of the line rangefinder, it will still be more cost effective than the SkyCaddie PRO 5X.
