SuperTag Calibration Guide

Step 1: Install the SkyCaddie Mobile App

Before calibrating your SuperTags, make sure the SkyCaddie Mobile app is installed on your smartphone.
Download it from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

Log in using your SkyGolf username and password.

🔧Note: Calibration must be completed using the SkyCaddie Mobile app on your smartphone, even if you plan to use SuperTags with a SkyCaddie handheld device.


Step 2: Begin Calibration

  1. Open the SkyCaddie Mobile app.
  2. Go to the menu, select Clubs | SmartTags, then choose “Setup Tag.”
  3. Choose the club type you’re calibrating: Woods, Hybrids, Irons, Wedges, or Putter.
  4. The app will connect to the SuperTag and prompt you through the following steps:

Step 3: Positioning and Orientation

  • Positioning:
    • Place your smartphone flat against the clubface.
    • Tuck the club shaft under your arm—under your left arm if you're right-handed, and right arm if you're left-handed.
  • Leveling:
    • Use the on-screen bubble level to align the clubface horizontally.
  • Rotation:
    • Follow the prompt to rotate your upper body left and right a few times.
    • This movement allows the SuperTag and your smartphone to communicate and record the tag’s exact orientation on the club grip.


Step 4: Finalize and Save

Once calibration is complete:

  • The system now understands the orientation of the SuperTag on your club and how it relates to the clubface position.
  • If the app mistakenly identifies your club (e.g., shows a 5-iron when you calibrated a 6-iron), simply use the sliding selector wheel to adjust it to the correct club, then tap Save.

🔍Note: Differences in manufacturer specs can cause minor mismatches in detected loft or length. This is easily corrected in the app.


Additional Tips for Woods

When calibrating woods, we recommend using the provided O-ring to help level your phone against the clubface and account for the natural bulge and roll on wood faces

Can I add a SuperTag to any club?

Yes, the SuperTags can go on any club. A full set of SuperTags will allow you to track your complete round and swings for every club. We offer a selection of packages:

The SuperTags record the swing. Your SkyCaddie records the GPS location of the shot therefore it is advisable to keep your SkyCaddie near you to record the correct shot location.

SuperTag Battery
SuperTags have no on/off switch. SuperTags use highly intelligent power management technology turning on automatically only when needed.

The SuperTag knows when you are about to take a shot and when you are not, meaning it uses hardly any power when sat in the dark at the bottom your golf bag even when bouncing around in your trunk or on the back of the cart. It has a light sensor and accelerometers to know when it is about to hit a golf shot, waking itself up ready to record your swing.

The battery inside a SuperTag should last approximately 2 years depending on use.

Can I change the battery myself? We provide a service for battery replacement.

Important note: You have added electronic intelligence to your clubs: Do not leave clubs in the heat or the cold of your trunk/ garage.

you take the club out of your bag

SuperTags have a built in light sensor so after a period of inactivity a SuperTag left in a dark golf bag can go into a deep sleep for battery saving.

To wake it up, simply shake or provide the SuperTag with some light.

If your club with SuperTag is awake but not displaying your swing, please check the following:

  • add a slight pause before taking each shot
  • if putting, start a putting practice and try again making contact with a ball
  • If taking air swings, start a swing practice and turn ON ‘Capture Air Swings’
  • recalibrate

    Check the following and adjust to default settings below if needed:
